Removal of heavy metals from aqueous media by sunflower husk: A comparative study of biosorption efficiency by using ICP-OES and LIBS

Presented research aimed to develop an alternative approach for the estimation of biosorption capability sunflower husk. The acid-pretreated biomass was characterized by scanning electron microscopy combined with energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) analysis and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Biosorption efficiency has been evaluated using inductively coupled plasma optical emission (ICP-OES) laser-induced breakdown (LIBS). adsorption capacity adsorbent determined as function pH solution, initial concentration heavy metal solutions, contact time. optimal conditions were achieved after 15 min at 6, while percentage removal from 80.0?98.7 %, depending on element. results obtained kinetic isotherm studies show that maximum ions quickly reached followed pseudo-second-order model. Real samples tested Ni values LIBS method 3100?200 1240?100 mg kg-1, estimated ICP-OES 2995?20 1130?10 respectively. prove can be used a ?green alternative? evaluation efficiency.
